Your dog has endless energy, pulls on every walk, and tunes you out completely.

You're in the right place.

I help Portland families get a handle on their rambunctious dog — the one that's good at heart but has been running the house.

Does this sound like your dog?

You love them. That part's obvious. But living with them is honestly exhausting sometimes.

The pulling. The not listening. The way they completely lose it the second a guest walks through the door or another dog appears on the walk. You've probably tried a few things already. Maybe some of them helped a little. But nothing's really stuck.

That's what I deal with. Not aggression, not complicated behavior cases — just the dog that has way too much energy, no real off switch, and hasn't learned that listening to you is actually worth their while.

If that's your dog, keep reading.

I’m Shane, your new dog trainer

I've been working with family dogs in Portland for over 10 years. The rambunctious ones are honestly my favorite — the Labs, the Aussies, the Goldendoodles, the Pit Bulls that have way too much going on and owners who are just trying to get through a walk without incident.

I'm also a dad. My dog Pulga is a cattle dog pit mix who's spent years living alongside my son. So when families come to me with a dog that can't settle around kids, or goes nuts every time someone new walks in — I get it on a personal level, not just a professional one.

My training isn't about suppressing your dog's energy. It's giving it direction. A dog with structure, clear communication, and proper outlets is a completely different animal to live with. That's what we're working toward.

What Clients Say

Shane and Ruben are excellent at what they do. After a 3 week Board & Train, we brought home a more relaxed, well-behaved dog. Aside from their training skills they are also great communicators with humans and dogs. This was crucial for us to learn how to communicate with our dogs effectively. Highly recommended!

-Nick B. ★★★★★

My dog used to bark constantly, showed leash reactivity & was overall incredibly anxious. The list of things she was comfortable around was shorter than what set her off (bikes, swings, men, big dogs, my cats, basketballs, being in the water). I used to feel guilty even leaving the house. We now go out in the world with both of us feeling calm and excited to adventure together!

Ruben and Shane are super skilled and you can truly feel their passion in what they do. They took the time to create a thoughtful, personalized training plan for my dog and were always available to answer questions or troubleshoot new challenges as they came up, well after we finished the program which showed their commitment.

How we can work together

Board & Train - $3800

Your dog lives with me for 3 weeks. We work every day — on walks, at the door, around real distractions — inside an actual home, not a kennel. By the time you pick them up, the foundation is solid. Then I come to you for the handover and weekly in-home session so the whole family is on the same page.

This one has requirements. Your dog needs to already be crate trained and potty trained, and they need to be under 55lbs. It's not for dogs with aggression or severe reactivity — but if your dog is just rambunctious and out of control, this is the fastest way to turn things around.

Building Blocks - $1,000

Five private one-on-one sessions over eight weeks. We work your dog together — you're there for all of it, learning alongside them. Between sessions you send me training videos and I give you direct feedback, so you're not just winging it until next time.

This is the right fit if you want to actually understand what you're doing and why. The goal isn't just a trained dog — it's you knowing how to handle them.

Not sure which one fits?

That's what the free consultation is for. We talk through what's going on with your dog and figure out what actually makes sense for your situation.
